Marking , this Live Lesson for 7-11-year-olds looks back at Shakespeare’s life during Tudor times, the impact this had on his writing and the legacy he left behind.

In partnership with , this history lesson, presented by C±«Óătv’s Rhys Stephenson, will explore the early life of Shakespeare and how his childhood inspired him to get writing.

Rhys is also joined by the ‘Shakespeare Sleuths’, a group of KS2 pupils on an investigation into the playwright’s childhood in Stratford Upon Avon. As the team find clues surrounding his life, we learn about primary and secondary sources.

Plus, from C±«Óătv’s Horrible Histories, Shakespeare himself visits the Live Lessons studio to share some stories from his childhood and give an insight into his extensive family tree!

Pupils will not only learn about the history of Shakespeare as an actor, writer and poet, but will also discover more about life in the Tudor times, such as the plague epidemic and how lives differed between the rich and the poor.

We hope that this historical Shakespeare Week Live Lesson will provide your pupils with an understanding of how an ordinary boy from Stratford-upon-Avon, became one of the world’s most famous playwrights.
