Advice and discussion on creative writing from our panel:

  • Julia Skinner - A Fellow of Chartered College of Teaching, and the founder of the 100 Word Challenge. She runs an award-winning blog The Head's Office, sharing ideas and thoughts on everything from resources for teachers to personal stories on life as a head teacher. She also works as a consultant, supporting schools with governance and leadership.

  • Simon Hunt - An SLE teacher of a mixed year 3/4 class at Tottington Primary School. In 2018, he won the Inspirational Teacher of the Year Award at the Greater Manchester Schools Awards. The video of him learning to floss with his children has gathered more than three million views on the ±«Óătv News Facebook page.

  • Christopher Edge - An award-winning children’s author and former teacher whose novels have been nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal, as well as winning several children’s book awards. He is also the author of inspirational guides to creative writing for children and teenagers, and works with schools across the country to inspire children as readers and writers.

The panel discusses the teaching of creative writing, how to get kids to love writing for pleasure and the challenges facing teachers when it comes to creative writing lessons.
