In partnership with , Beyond Black History Month is a panel discussion programme with ideas and best practice around teaching black and diverse histories and experiences.

Hosted by C±«Óătv Newsround presenter De-Graft Mensah, the panel incudes:

  • Rev Steve Chalke MBE - Baptist minister, author, speaker, social entrepreneur and founder and leader of Oasis Global, which has opened 53 primary, secondary and all-through schools around the UK.
  • Youlande Harrowell - Assistant headteacher and co-founder of Mindful Equity UK, an organisation aiming to increase the number of black and Asian women in leadership roles.
  • Josiah Isles - Assistant headteacher at a school in Bolton who has written about his experiences within the education system as a black teacher in the UK.
  • Lavinya Stennett - Historian, writer, recent first class graduate from SOAS and the founder and CEO of The Black Curriculum, which aims to deliver black British history all across the UK and all year round.

Ayshah Tull and Mrs Vee explore the inspirational lives and contributions of black writers, musicians, activists and more. Together with guest readers Angelica Bell and David Lammy, they explain how language is used in songs and speeches to inspire us, demonstrate the importance of proof-reading, and challenge pupils to write about their dreams for a better world.
