England and Bristol prop Ellis Genge is set to miss a number of weeks because of a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old picked up the injury in training but a Bears statement said he was expected to return "ahead of England's 2024 Six Nations campaign".

He has scored tries in the last two Premiership outings for Bristol since returning from the World Cup.

Genge, who has won 58 England caps, also captained his country for the first time earlier this year.

England begin their Six Nations tournament on 3 February away to Italy.

Genge will miss the start of Bristol's Champions Cup campaign at home to Lyon on Saturday along with their visit to Bordeaux Begles on 16 December.

Bristol then return to Premiership action with four fixtures through the rest of December and January, along with two more European games.
