Nikolay Todorov's strike denied Ayr a second successive win

Inverness Caledonian Thistle's Nikolay Todorov struck four minutes from time to rescue a Scottish Championship point at home to Ayr United.

The striker should have grabbed an early opener when his header bounced off the crossbar and on to the goal-line.

Bruce Anderson and Cammy Smith came close for Ayr before debutant Innes Cameron - on loan from Kilmarnock - lashed home a minute after coming off the bench in the second half.

But Todorov made amends for his earlier miss when his shot nestled in the bottom corner.

It earned Inverness their first point of the season and denied Ayr a second straight win.

Inverness CT manager John Robertson: "We got our reward for keeping going and it's the least we deserved. It would have been harsh for us to come away with nothing."

Ayr manager Mark Kerr: "It was frustrating as we probably should have scored a second. With their goal we've given the ball away after doing so well to win it back. It's a sore one to take."
