Gerwyn Price has been ruled out of the 2024 World Cup of Darts and will be replaced by Jim Williams in the Wales team for this weekend's event in Germany.

Jonny Clayton and Price won the World Cup for a second time last summer and Price had again been set to partner 'the Ferret' for a tilt at a third title in the doubles event in Frankfurt.

However, the 39-year-old world number four has been ruled out due to health issues.

"I'm massively disappointed that I'm having to miss the World Cup and I always love representing Wales," said Price.

"I wish Jonny and Jim Williams the best of luck this weekend and hopefully they can bring back the title again."

Price is replaced by the next highest-ranked Welsh player from the PDC Order of Merit - Williams, who will make his World Cup debut this weekend.

Under PDC rules, with the World Cup of Darts draw having been made for the group stage, Wales retain their status as the second seeds and will enter the event in Saturday's second round at the Eissporthalle.
