The Dog n Duck

We have a peedie Duck that Mr B has named Donald

He was the last of the ducks from the incubator and unfortunately he hasn't got any friends apart from Mr B, me and Hooch.

We have put him out with the other ducks but they are blacklegging him and he wanders around trying to be sociable to no avail.

He needs constant watching as he hasn't got long enough legs to hoist himself out of the pond and swims around shouting out for help. I checked on him a small while ago to find him covered in mud and soaked through. I brought him inside and dried him off. Hes now sitting in the front room in front of the fire with the dog and the cat.

At least hes a happy Duck for NOW

Lovely photos! Hard to believe the duck would go so close to the dog and cat. Also I am well impressed with your plastering efforts. Just look at all those holes and gaps!

Jill from EK

nice pics of the "family"" can you try to get a pic of all three together??

Poor bu**er! Nice photos. Clearly Hooch is a fabulously good natured dog. His eminence the cat is clearly snubbing the poor sod. Where did Mr. B get the duck eggs? Clearly this duck's egg has been genetically modified by an incompetent scientist.

Those slippers in the first snap are far too big for that duck. It might be best to get its feet measured properly.

Annie B from the usual

It always pays to be kind to a duck. It's a potential dinner after all... Sensible cat, keep up the good work!

The slippers are the dogs Annie B. I think that Mr B got the eggs from the kitchen at Dounray. They were glowing a little green at night

Barebraes from Shapinsay

Annie B., perhaps Barebraes put those slippers out early for ole Nick? May have nothing to do with her hopes that the duckie will grow big enough ... but then, who really knows, with Barebraes (eh?),

Forget the genetically modified duck for a sec.: my wife asked about your trees. Are they up to providing a windbreak yet, or did they rather snap in the wind? How about those pictures you promised so long ago I had forgotten all about it.

Oh yes I clean forgot, a promise is a promise and as soon as this dreaded fog lifts I will be down the field armed with camera to show the progress of the trees just for you mjc

Getting comments displayed seems to be a hit and miss affair, more miss than hit these days. The comment merely does not see the light of day: no notification, no apparent reason (unless congratulating Fredblog on his new car, for example, is deemed verboten). Perhaps I should take a long sabbatical from island blogging, time enough to get the kinks straightened up (though they seem to be getting both worse and more numerous rather than the other way around).

Don't give up, mjc, just Carry on Complaining. I do....to absolutely no effect....
