Surround Video

White Paper WHP 208

Published: 1 January 2012

Abstract

±«Óãtv R&D's Surround Video system is an immersive video technology which can be integrated into a domestic-scale viewing environment. The technology has previously been successfully piloted with simple engineering test sequences, leading to positive feedback from viewers. We investigated the use of the technology in a production environment. Using largely off-the-shelf equipment we shot and edited "Broken", a short film commissioned for Surround Video. The results are not flawless, but do show the definite potential of the technology. We proved that surround production was practical, while identifying areas for improvement and further investigation.
