This week: our social interaction toolkit applied to existing apps, a productive reading week, and talking about understanding AI.

In the Interaction and Prototyping team, Mathieu and Andrew have compared and applied the principles of the to existing collaborative apps such as google docs and zoom. This led to wireframe versions that are compliant with the toolkit principles. In addition to production tools they are also exploring collaborative creative ideation applications.

Ant has continued his investigation into prototyping for in-car experiences focusing on Echo Auto and Android Auto.

Last week the Data Team were on a Reading Week. This is where they take a dip into a new area of research or dive deeper into an area they are already working on to help expand their knowledge base. 

Ben looked into Tensor Flow Recommendations libraries, with a long-term view to improving the algorithms we’ve supplied to the iPlayer and iRex teams. Polina hosted a Recys (Recommender System) bookclub to look at what’s new in this particular field and also worked out a potential musical collaboration with Queen Mary’s University of London, a university we’ve had a very productive research relationship with over the years. Chris was also working on some QMUL research, commenting on some papers we’ve collaborated on as part of an existing partnership.

Tamsin is prepping for the Hackweek on News timelines that’s coming up in a few weeks, and also trying to find a way to extract useful data from a large trawl of ±«Óătv Drama scripts we’ve got. Andy is carrying on with his important Data Science Research Partnership work and Ollie is taking a look at automated summarisation research, which should help inform his work for the Natural Language Processing team. 

Internet and Society have been working on the Images of AI website: Alicia has been building the site, researching accessibility for it and deploying it; David has been designing the site and creating ideas for stock images.

Also on this theme, Galen's been improving and testing his multiplayer guessing game "Missing Link" where you play against others and a GPT-style "AI".

Tristan and Libby gave to Cambridge Wireless UX special interest group.

Henry and Libby have been talking about the Futures project and running a number of workshops using the techniques with different teams.
