R&D at Broadcast Video Expo 2016

Next week the great and the good of the UK’s broadcast technology community will convene at London’s Excel centre. Tuesday 23rd February marks the beginning of - three days of seeing the latest tech on the countless exhibition stands, hearing industry insights and debate plus quite a bit of networking. For those attending ±«Óãtv R&D has two speakers on the bill both on Wednesday 24th February.

Our Head of Operations is doing a in the event’s The Screen theatre from 11:15am – 11:55am. He will outline R&D’s vision of a New Broadcasting System and how this connects to the department’s IP Studio project, as well as talking the audience through examples of object based content experiences made possible by this environment. Later that day lead ±«Óãtv R&D engineer will provide Broadcast Video Expo delegates with an update on the AMWA Networked Media Incubator. The Networked Media Incubator project was launched at IBC 2015. It is sponsored by the (AMWA) and was set up to help enable open, multi-vendor interoperability in professional media networks. The activity is focused on getting early tangible results by concentrating on specific technical areas through a series of collaborative development activities and facilitating virtual and physical interchanges between system developers. The technical goals of the group will be guided by the  published by the Joint Task Force on Networked Media.

±«Óãtv R&D has been leading the initial phase of this work, alongside AMWA members including Ericsson, Quantel Snell, Cinegy, Telestream, Dalet, EVS and Sony. From the wider broadcast industry, arkona technologies, Axon, Barco Silex, InSync Technology, and Lawo also agreed to participate.

The AMWA update was requested by Broadcast Video Expo delegates when they were polled about what content they would like to see at the event. We are thrilled that the industry is interested and engaged with the project.
