The music industry is a notoriously unforgiving one. It usually demands youth, a stick-thin figure and a hip attitude. But does it have to? One woman is putting that to the test.

Fifty-something grandmother Jackie Highe decided her job as editor in chief of Bella magazine wasn't enough. She wanted to hit the big time as a jazz and blues singer.
With the help of two record producers who are prepared to take a chance with her, she's making a demo CD to send to record labels in the bid for a contract. But it's a long process, with no guarantees.
Philippa Budgen has been following Jackie along the way...
