Ìý Best friends with your children Monday 5 November 2001 Ìý
Having a best friend is very important when you're a child, but how many children would count their mothers as a best friend?

Some parents believe that you need to be a friend on an equal footing with your child, while others think that only by establishing your role as parent can you lay down the rules.
So can you ever be best friends with your children and how do you do it?
Jenni is joined by Gil McNeil, author of The Only Boy For Me, and journalist India Knight.
Tell us what you think - visit the message board. The Only Boy For Me (Bloomsbury, ISBN: 074755482X, £10.00).
