On the challenges of playing the politician Mo Mowlam

Mo Mowlam was known to be both larger than life and down to earth. Despite having been diagnosed with a brain tumour she became Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in Tony Blair’s Government in 1997. Now the story of her life at that time has been made into a television film with actor Julie Walters playing the leading role. Julie talks to Jenni about Mo’s life and character, and about how she approached playing such a well-known public figure.
