Changing styles in fashion advertising

Flick through the pages of any women’s magazine and you’ll see plenty of fashion adverts amongst the editorial. A new book has brought together some of those clothing adverts from the past century and it reflects the changes not only inÌýfashion, but in art design, the depiction of women and the slogans that have been used to lure us into making a purchase. To assess how fashion advertising has evolved, Jenni is joined by Heather Iwanow, senior lecturer in International Fashion Marketing at Manchester’s Metropolitan University and by Mark Tungate, journalist and author of "Fashion Brands."

Fashion of the 20th Century: 100 Years of Fashion Ads (Hardcover) by Alison A Nieder (Author), Jim Heimann (Editor) is published by Taschen. ISBN-10: 3836514613
