Synchronised Swimming 14ÌýMar 2008
Synchronised Swimmers
A sport for women of all ages and abilities.

Synchronised swimming is the performance of elaborate routines, in water, to music. As much a dance discipline as a sport, it’s almost exclusively practised by women.ÌýThis week sees the opening of a new film, Water Lilies, set in the often competitive world of synchronised swimming. The girlsÌýin the film areÌýjust fifteen years old, but synchronised swimming attracts women of all ages. Judi Herman took the plunge and went to Bedford Swimming Baths where a group of women, from teenagers to octogenarians, meets every week under the watchful eye of Olympic coach Helen Elkington.
