In this week's programme...

Corporate greed/Governance

Every spring, business leaders from all over the world gather in the small Swiss city of St Gallen for a unique conference.

The International Students Committee Symposium is planned and meticulously organised by students from St Gallen University ... many of them doing business studies. It's their chance to plan a big event ... and then meet top people and exchange views with them on the big issues of the day.

In Business joined them for the 34th year of the symposium where the theme was "growth and prosperity" from which arose the big issues of the rise of China, the malaise which has settled on Germany and threatens to infect much of the rest of Europe and the influence of American power.

One other theme that came out of the symposium was the damaging and dangerous phenomenon of the failure of celebrated corporations and this week's In Business looks at the theme of Corporate Greed/Governance through the experience of 3 contributors to the conference

Guests:

Prof. Gilbert Probst
University of Geneva who has just published fascinating research into what he calls 'the logic of failure' - the idea that supersuccessful corporations sow the seeds of their own destruction.

Sherron Watkins
Whistle-blowing former Vice-President of Enron Corporation

Peter Voser
Chief Financial Officer of ABB who was brought in to save the company from Bankruptcy.
