The Abolition of Slavery 1807
Nick Baker and the actor, writer Kwame Kwei Armah begin a journey that takes in three places associated with slavery in the UK to see how they will be marking next year’s bi-centenary and, more importantly, establishing just how each places ‘slave history’ informs the present.

The 1947 Floods
A Making History listener recalls the floods on March 1947 in Nottinghamshire and asks why these are less well remembered than other natural, climatic events such as the 1963 winter or the 1953 East Coast Floods?
Making History turned to the expertise of meteorologist Barry Grommet and the Cambridgeshire historian Mike Petty, who has researched the impact of the floods in badly affected Fens.

Prison Hulks
Rumours that the ±«Óãtv Office is contemplating buying a prison ship to ease overcrowding in our prisons led the Making History team to look at the history of these vessels – often, grimly, referred to as prison hulks.
The programme consulted Professor Sean McConville of Queen Mary, University of London author of a four-volume history of Britain’s penal history published by Routledge.
