El Far3i: Palestinian music sensation
Palestinian, Jordanian rapper and producer on creating his very own genre and why his new album is called Nas Min Khashab, or Wooden People.
Palestinian and Jordanian songwriter and producer, Tareq Abu Kwaik - known by the stage name El Far3i â may be most famous as a rapper yet it is his acoustic song, Tghayarti (Youâve Changed) which has gained over 17 million views on his YouTube channel.
The multi-instrumentalist continues to fuse Arab acoustic folk with hip hop and electronica - a genre he has coined âEl Far3i Fluxâ â but what exactly is that?
Reporter Miriam Walker-Khan finds out, as she trails the creation of a new studio album, Nas Min Khashab (Wooden People). It is the final instalment in El Far3iâs âwoodenâ trilogy and an album he plans to launch on social media, one track at a time.
Miriam also discovers how Tareq finds inspiration living in the UK, many miles from the high mountains of Palestine and Jordan, and why love, land and self-destiny define this trilogy.
