Outlook Weekend: Tick Tock

Guitarist Wilko Johnson on surviving what he thought was terminal cancer and Alex Lewis on how losing all his limbs to a deadly infection meant he now has a 'fantastic life'.

Wilko Johnson, the British guitarist of the group Dr Feelgood, was told he had terminal cancer. He went on what he thought was going to be his last tour only to discover that he had been given the wrong diagnosis.

Alex Lewis was a full-time dad to his young son while his partner Lucy ran a pub. In 2013 Alex caught an infection that felt a lot like flu and within weeks he had lost all his limbs. The truly remarkable thing about Alex is that he says the experience has been 'brilliant'.
