Coronavirus Conversations: US deaths reach 100,000
We discuss the pandemic with a paramedic in New York.
The US has reached the milestone of 100,000 Covid-19 related deaths, and we are catching up with a paramedic in New York, we first spoke to in April. He says that although the volume of calls are dropping, it will take a long time to recover from what he’s experienced.
Today's medical expert to help us with the various questions about the virus is Dr Emma Hodcroft, a molecular epidemiologist at the University of Basel, in Switzerland. We’ll ask about the advice on wearing a face mask, as the issue is still widely debated, and has become political in the US.
We also bring together local people in the city of Minneapolis to discuss racial tensions in the city, following the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, in police custody.
