Jens Stoltenberg: 'I expect the US to agree package of continued military support'

The Secretary General of Nato, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, told HARDtalk’s Sarah Montague he was sure that the US Congress would agree to a package of continued military support for Ukraine in an interview at the Nato headquarters in Brussels.

He said, “Partly because that has been a message I've heard from US Congress in my meetings now over the last days in Washington, in Brussels and also in Munich.”

But he said, “The lack of decision in the US Congress has already affected the war because there has been a reduction in the flow of ammunition and weapons from the US and that has already had an impact on the battlefield.”

And he stressed “there is urgent need for the US Congress to decide and to and to and to continue with what the US has done for many years, and that is to be a leader in providing military support to Ukraine.”

The Secretary General is standing down as the leader of Nato in October this year after ten years in the role.
