Excitement for Cambridge’s blooming moonflower

A rare Amazonian cactus at the Cambridge University Botanical Gardens has finally flowered – after an eight year wait.

Thousands logged on to a live stream to watch the first and second flowers come into bloom.

A total of four blooms from its Strophocactus Wittii were expected, with one being damaged and the fourth yet to open.

Senior Horticulturist Kathryn Bray talks Dave Webster through their exciting few days.
