How are DRCongo’s elections being viewed by people there?

The election takes place against a backdrop of conflict in the east, an economic and social crisis and a lack of trust between the government and opposition

Millions of people will be voting in elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo this week. President FĂ©lix Tshisekedi is seeking a second, and final, five-year term in office.

It’s a country the size of Western Europe with an estimated population of more than 100 million people. It’s also a country rich in natural resources- it has 70% of the world's reserves of coltan, a mineral used to make mobile phones. But it’s also a country with many challenges, there’s been a bloody conflict in eastern DRCongo for three decades which has left millions dead.
