Windrush 75: Returning to the Caribbean islands

The majority of the windrush generation who came to the UK were in their early 20's.

They were young, fit, ambitious and for many the plan was to come to England, make some money and return back to the Caribbean within a few years. However due to the cost of living, bringing up a family and building a dream home in the Caribbean, those 3 to 5 years, turned into at least 30 years or more for many.

Fondly known as "the Returnees", thousands of the Windrush Generation, retired early returning back in their country of birth, and are now living in comparative luxury.

Phyliss Black who came to the UK from what was then the British Colony of Jamaica in 1961 told our reporter Valley Fontaine why returning home was a must. Her daughter Evadney Campbell MBE also says she'll be following in her mother's footsteps.
