Evgenia Kara-Murza: 'In Putin's Russia the goal is to silence all opposition'

Russian opposition activist Vladimir Kara-Murza has been in detention, awaiting trial in Moscow, since April.
He is being investigated for several charges including high treason.

Despite being in jail, he has been able to make himself heard via an opinion piece published in the Washington Post earlier this month.

His wife Evgenia Kara-Murza currently serves as advocacy co-ordinator for the Free Russia Foundation - a Washington-based non-profit organisation representing those repressed by the Russian government.

Evgenia spoke to Newshour about Vladimir's activism, the ongoing Russian anti-war protests, and the treatment of those that oppose Putin's regime in prison.

"They need to silence dissent...the better the person is known, of course, the more crucial it is to silence them."
