Rising food prices: 'a game of survival'

±«Óãtv Business Correspondent, Sean Farrington, visits Sunderland to hear how restaurants, bakeries and schools are coping with rising prices.

The cost of living is going up – and we’re all feeling it in different ways. The latest inflation figures show prices increased by 10.1% in the year to September – the fastest rate for 40 years.

And when it comes to food – the costs are rising even faster, with inflation at 14.5%.

Sean Farrington, a ±«Óãtv Business Reporter, has been to Sunderland where ±«Óãtv News is hearing how people are coping with the soaring cost of living and economic pressures. Sunderland's unemployment levels are higher compared to the rest of the UK and workers earn less than people in other parts of the country.

For 5 Minutes On, Sean's been hearing how restaurants are fighting for survival, bakeries are being squeezed – and schools are struggling with the increased demand for free school meals.
