Richard Osman: the inspiration for my "Thursday Murder Club"

Richard Osman takes us on a behind the scenes tour of the real-life retirement village that set the scene for his best selling novel - which is also home to his mum, Brenda.

It's tranquil, sedate and quiet. A place where residents play bowls, do line-dancing, and even take part in a knitting club. But - behind the ordinary exterior - one retirement village holds a dark secret. It's the scene of multiple murders, and four elderly amateur detectives who crack the crimes.

This is not real-life of course, but the premise of the best-selling "Thursday Murder Club" series written by TV presenter-turned-author Richard Osman.

So what inspired this now famous setting?

For 5 Minutes On, the ±«Óãtv's Arts Correspondent Rebecca Jones, visits the retirement village in East Sussex that inspired Richard Osman's novels - and is home to his 80-year-old mother Brenda.
