On top of a nuclear reactor

The ±«Óãtv's Climate Question presenter, Jordan Dunbar, has been given rare access to the nuclear plant at Hinkley point B.

For a long time it looked like nuclear power had had it’s day – the UK was getting rid of it’s reactors and we hadn't built a new plant in decades. But climate change promises and the invasion of Ukraine have brought it back to the top of the agenda. The UK is now planning to build 8 new reactors by 2050 as part of our plan to get green and secure energy to our homes. But lots of people still have doubts about safety with memories of the disasters at Fukishima and Chernobyl. For 5 Minutes On, the ±«Óãtv's Climate Question presenter, Jordan Dunbar, has been given rare access to the nuclear plant at Hinkley point B and went behind the scenes to see what it’s really like. Jordan met Ross Mark a young apprentice to find out what his mates think of him training to run a nuclear reactor and found out from the man that runs the place - Mike Davies - what kettles have to do with splitting atoms.
