Rattus gets dancer and spy, Josephine Baker to chat with her celebrity mates!

The writers and cast behind Horrible Histories wonder what it might be like if Josephine Baker had her own podcast. It is set later in her life, when she was living in her Chateau in France.

Josephine is thrilled to chat to the famous writer Ernest Hemingway, who is more interested in her life as a dancer in Paris and her love of animals. Her next guest is Picasso, who gets Josephine to open up about her activities as an Allied spy during the Nazi occupation of France. We also discover her ‘rainbow tribe’ of 12 adopted children from all corners of the world.

There is a mock advert for a Hemingway’s lost suitcase of stories. There is also a quiz question about one of her pet pigs that got so fat they had trouble removing it from the kitchen she kept it in.

Her final guest is the Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly. She gets Josephine to open up about her impact as a civil rights figure.

Rattus offers some context at the top and tail of the episode, which also features two songs from the TV series – Coco Chanel and I Sat on a Bus plus a third entirely original song created specifically for this podcast – A Star Like No Other.

The minipod that goes with this episode features a mock advert for expensive Pet Jewellery!
