Rattus gets Henry VIII to discuss hunting and beheading with Anne of Cleves!

The writers and cast behind Horrible Histories wonder what it might be like if King Henry VIII had his own podcast. It is set in his later years.

Henry has decided to do a podcast about hunting. He is joined by co-host, his fourth wife Anne of Cleves (who is still alive). He tells her all about his love of sporting activities while she gently mocks him for being less fit than he was in his youth. They also talk about his appetite for porpoise, something they actually used to eat in court.

There is a mock advert for Tudor era medicine, a quiz question about Henry’s night time routine and a mocking message left by King Francis of France. Finally Henry brings on a special guest – Hannibal Zinzano – his Italian horse-keeper. They all discuss Henry’s love of horses.

Henry wraps up by suggesting his next podcast should be about hawking and reveals he has a hawk with him, which he accidentally releases. The hawk attacks Anne and Hannibal who both jump out the window to escape.

Rattus offers some context at the top and tail of the episode, which also features two songs from the TV series – Divorced, Beheaded & Died (rerecorded) and Get Sweaty.

The minipod that goes with this episode features a deleted scene in which Henry names his favourite three horses and an additional spoof Tudor advert for ‘Tame-a-Bear’.
