While not as well known as 'Keep the ±«Óãtv Fires Burning' or 'We'll Gather Lilacs' the song 'Clear the Road to Glory' written during World War One is a good example of Welsh composer Ivor Novello's ability to create a patriotic, voluminous anthem from a simple melody. This song, (subtitled 'Liberation March') may sound like a jolly music hall sing-a-long but with lyrics like "hell and hatred attacking us..." and "tanks put the power in us..." it would have served as a morale booster for those dark times.
