Binaural mix of La Péri by Paul Dukas
Dukas's exotic prelude to his ballet La Péri begins with a curtain-raising brass fanfare, a late addition by the composer to allow audiences to settle down before the very quiet opening to the ballet. The story is of a prince who travels from the East to discover the lotus flower of immortality. He finds it in the hands of a sleeping fairy (Péri), but falls in love with her and exchanges the flower for a kiss. Kirill Petrenko conducts the Berlin Philharmonic.
