#mumtakeover: 'You’re mostly at home and you can’t go anywhere'

Young mums at a children’s drop in centre in Dewsbury told 5 live how they’d been affected by the birth of their children.

“It was difficult, especially when you have a child. You’re mostly at home and you can’t go anywhere, so you feel it’s already restricted – the amount of places you can go. You can get really lonely,” said Aimen.

“When you’re brought up in your own city, you get to know people even if you step out of your own house, but when you’re totally on your own it’s easy to fall into depression,” said the mum of one.

More than a third of mothers have experienced mental health issues related to parenthood, according to an online survey of 1,800 British parents by the ±«Óătv Radio 5 live and YouGov.
