'This is only one small part of it'

A British Urdu newspaper, the Nawa-i-Jang has published an advertisement calling for the boycott of products made by the food company Shezan, because of its ties to the Ahmadiyya community.

Text accompanying the advertisement says: "Shezan is a company owned by Qadianis [a derogatory name for the Ahmadiyya]. In order to uphold the honour of your faith, boycott it completely. You should not buy these products and persuade others to do the same.â€

The Ahmadis are a persecuted sect in Pakistan, which is often targeted by violent extremists. This violence spread to the UK last year when a British Ahmadi man was murdered after being accused of blasphemy. Despite this murder, anti-Ahmadi rhetoric continues to appear in newspapers circulated in the British-Pakistani community.

The ±«Óãtv asked Nawa-i-Jang to explain why it published this material but the newspaper's management failed to provide an interview or a statement.
