Dr Amir Khalil puts his life on the line to save animals in conflict zones. Recently, he and his team of vets risked sniper fire from so-called Islamic State militants to rescue a bear and a lion from a zoo in war-torn Mosul, Iraq.

Witnessing the brutal murder of her best friend in prison made Debbie Kilroy realise she wanted more for herself than a life behind bars. Debbie became the first woman in Australia to become a lawyer after being convicted of serious criminal offences.
