Lemurs are the only primates we know of that are capable of entering hibernation. Sheena Faherty has been monitoring dwarf lemurs in the Madagascan rainforest throughout the year and sheds light on the genes and amazing physiology of the primates’ ability to enter suspended animation. This could hold clues to engineering hibernation in humans, for long term space travel and medical advances in the trauma hospital.
