On 4th January 2000, Fiona Thorny-Will and Catherine Hartley became the first British women to walk nearly 700 miles across Antarctica to the South Pole. The expedition also saw another first. Fiona's husband Mike was part of the nine-strong party making them the first married couple to achieve the feat.
