1962: The year of the Cuban Missile Crisis - for fourteen days in October, the world held its breath as Kennedy and Khrushchev tried to reach a compromise and avoid nuclear war; "Dr. No", the first James Bond film, premiered in the UK; and in December “The Big Freeze” (one of the coldest winters on record) started as temperatures plummeted and rivers began to freeze over. But what was happening in Shropshire?
