Ray Harryhausen was inspired to become an animator when watching King Kong in 1933

Ray Harryhausen was one of the pioneers of special effects used in movies. The man who brought animated dinosaurs to our screens remembers the film that first inspired him - King Kong.

He began by using a 16mm camera in his father's garage and went on to develop an animation technique known as dynamation, used in films such as Jason and the Argonauts.
