Now it's time for our regular look back at a moment in history through the eyes - and ears - of those involved. 70 years ago today the Second World War finally came to a complete end. VE day in May marks the moment the war ended in Europe, but the conflict continued in the Far East. That was, until the atomic bombs were dropped and Japan surrendered on August the 14th 1945, and victory over Japan - VJ Day - was celebrated the day after on the 15th.

Tomorrow there will be services of commemoration and veterans of the Far East campaign and former Prisoners of War will gather at Horse Guards Parade followed by a military march past down Whitehall.

Today we're focusing on the Women Who helped win the War. Two of those were based in the code-breaking huts at Bletchley Park during the Second World War Betty Webb MBE, and Lady Marion Body

To give us the context about the sort of roles women undertook during the war, we can also hear from Professor Pat Thane who specialises in contemporary British History .
