In this episode Guy raves about the Malian four piece Songhoy Blues and reveals their baptism through the amazing Africa Express project, spearheaded by Damon Albarn.

Join Guy in Elbow’s studio to hear his thoughts on the band; their history, musical influences and the sound of the blues in northern Mali. There's also an exclusive clip from upcoming feature film, They Will Have To Kill Us First, which documents the struggle of Mali’s musicians as they fight for their right to sing, as well as Songhoy Blues working with Nick Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeah’s.

Guy is also joined by ±«Óătv 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews who's a huge fan of Songhoy Blues. Cerys offers her unique and informed insight into their sound and influences and finds a gem of a live recording from the ±«Óătv archive.
