John鈥檚 kidneys are failing fast and he must endure lengthy dialysis sessions to keep him alive. He needs a kidney transplant fast but the average wait for one is over three years during which many patients die. His wife, Caroline, wants to help her husband by giving him one of her kidneys but there are a number of barriers in the way. Firstly, she must lose three stone in order to donate and secondly she and John have incompatible blood groups meaning John鈥檚 antibodies would attack and destroy Caroline鈥檚 kidney if it was transplanted into his body. However, ground breaking medical technology gives John and Caroline hope.
