Doctor: A&E is 'like a warzone'

A doctor says he often worries that patients will "lose their life or lose their limb" simply because resources in A&E departments are so stretched.

Ally said that neither him nor his colleagues could have a five minute break on their twelve hour shift because the department was so busy and there was not enough staff.

He describes A&E as "more like a warzone" as staff are forced to do treatments in corridors. He adds "it's shameful in a way - these people pay their National Insurance and they deserve very good treatment but we fail to provide that".

His story comes as figures show that A&E waiting times in England have fallen to their worst level for a decade.
