The Vikings of Northern Europe - "Our Glorious Ancestors"
The Vikings of Scandinavia set off in fast, shallow boats to raid northern European countries, especially Britain. They actually called themselves Norsemen. And there's much more to them than the raping and pillaging, horned-helmet image that was passed down by the Victorians, as Zoe Durrant Walker from the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, northern England, explains.
