The World According to Silicon Valley's Peter Thiel

Silicon Valley's Peter Thiel tells us we are living in an age of technological stagnation; we should be more aggressive in pursuing discoveries that challenge death and ageing.

Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley entrepreneur, was an early financial backer of Facebook and a co-founder of Paypal. He's still investing in start-ups and cutting edge technology, but tells us that we are living in a period of technological stagnation and that we should be pursuing inventions and discoveries that challenge death and Alzheimer's disease.

Meanwhile, journalist Alison van Diggelen reports from San Francisco on how people in Silicon Valley celebrate failure as an essential step towards success. And, in keeping with Peter Thiel's aspirations of immortality, we end with a recording of the poet Dylan Thomas reading Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.
