Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered by a British expedition in 1922. For more than 3,000 years the tomb had remained intact and in pristine condition. But little more than 90 years after its opening it is in a deteriorating condition.

As visitors enter the tomb, temperature and humidity levels change, making the walls expand and contract. As a result, the elaborately decorated plaster is coming away from the rock face.

A replica tomb has now opened but how does it compare to the real thing and will tourists be prepared to travel all the way to Egypt to see what some would call a fake?
