Born to an Indian Muslim father and an Irish Catholic mother author, essayist and poet John Siddique has said that his true countries of birth are "literature and language".

At a young age, he discovered books at his local library and began writing in 1991 after reading James Joyce's Ulysses and the poetry of E.E.Cummings.

His latest collection of poems is called Full Blood and in this extract John joins presenter Raees Khan in the Desi Nation studio….
