±«Óãtv Research & Development is a group of scientists and engineers set up when the ±«Óãtv first formed to help produce early broadcast systems. Since then it has become responsible for helping the ±«Óãtv to remain relevant as the technology by which it delivers its content constantly changes. Today the department is actively involved in developing new delivery platforms, working practices and editorial formats. This film tells the story of a recent collaboration between ±«Óãtv Research & Development and The One Show. Using technology developed for the Little Sun art installation at Tate Modern, ±«Óãtv R&D engineers helped create a system where the One Show were able to direct volunteers in the plaza of MCUK to paint a 50 foot high Christmas tree using torches.
