China's growing deserts

Justin Rowlatt looks at how China is responding to the threat of its growing deserts, planting billions of trees to create a so-called "green wall".

Justin Rowlatt's third report from his epic drive through China looks at the country's response to the threat of its growing deserts, planting billions of trees to create a so-called "green wall". Li Bo, a former chief of the Friends of Nature, says environmental issues are moving up the agenda in China. And Justin visits the Ordos desert and tries the sport of dune-racing.

And from Kenya, our regular commentator Wycliff Muga reflects on how new information can change people's lives - and alter the relationship between governments and government-paid workers.
