Catherine Parr and Henry VIII

A portrait of Catherine Parr comes to life in a gallery and she talks to the night time security guard about her life with Henry VIII. No one was keen to marry Henry. The country was in turmoil as the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England both tried to prove to Henry that they were the best. Catherine Parr had been reading a lot about the Church of England. When Henry VIII asked Catherine to marry him she agreed, and on 12 July 1543, they were married at Hampton Court. Catherine enjoyed life in the Royal Court but her real passion was religious study and she even began to write a book. In January 1547, Henry became unwell and thought he was dying. He discussed his last wishes with Cromwell, and checked that he had signed all the death warrants for the people he didn’t like! Henry VIII died on 28 January 1547 and was buried beside the love of his life, Jane Seymour. All three of Henry's children went on to rule England.
